START IN ADD DEVICE

Choose a home and setup path.

Select the home that will own the connection. Pair each device with your own Home Assistant installation using its supported integration, then connect that installation to the home and authorise it there. A Zigbee device may need a compatible coordinator and pairing in ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT; Tuya devices are first added to Tuya Smart or Smart Life and then to Home Assistant's Tuya integration. Device capabilities vary, and an unsupported integration will not be silently connected.

YOUR OWN HOME ASSISTANT

Give your installation a stable identity.

Before connecting your own Home Assistant, its administrator installs the Recoheat identity companion (ZIP). Extract the recoheat_identity folder into your Home Assistant configuration's custom_components folder, add recoheat_identity: to configuration.yaml, check the configuration and restart Home Assistant. Then return to Add device, enter its HTTPS address and authorise as an administrator in Home Assistant. Recoheat never asks for your Home Assistant password.

The companion creates one installation ID and keeps it in Home Assistant storage. Keep that storage when restoring or changing the installation's address. A copied installation with the same ID cannot be connected to a different Recoheat home while the first claim is active. If the companion is missing or its ID changes, the app pauses the connection and asks you to resolve it instead of assigning devices to another home. Shared-backend pairing is a separate, unaccepted path.

MAKE IT USEFUL

Name the device and choose its room.

When setup finds supported devices, assign each one to a room in the selected home and give it a name you recognise, such as “Washing machine plug”. A saved assignment links that device to your home; it does not by itself prove that the physical device is reporting or responding.

CHECK THE RESULT

Review reported state and available controls.

Open Device control and the home's energy or air views to see what the connected device actually reports. Available controls depend on the device and integration; check a command's reported result before relying on it. The personal-Home-Assistant metered-plug recording flow below is a preview and is not yet active. Device connections and readings remain with this home if you later share only its design with another account.

AirGradient cloud setup is separate: connect the monitor through your AirGradient account, then choose the room it measures. You can model a home without connecting any device.

METERED SMART PLUGS

The metered-plug link and recording flow shown in Device control is not yet active. Recoheat will enable it after verifying the owner's Home Assistant installation identity and signed-in account isolation. It cannot currently add switch, power or energy readings to retained history.

When available, you will first pair a compatible metered plug in your own Home Assistant installation, select its Recoheat home, name the switch and assign its room. Linking it for read-only monitoring will not itself record history. New account-linked recording will require a separate V2 research-history choice for that plug. Record current readings will then capture reported switch state, watts and cumulative kWh only when pressed; automatic polling, plug commands and backfilling older readings are not part of this preview.

The planned path uses your own Home Assistant as a pairing and reading adapter, not Recoheat's shared backend. A linked Pro or Enterprise account would also need your current per-home data-access grant to view retained history. Compatibility, including Tuya hardware, depends on the actual integration and still needs real-device verification.
